Department Chair- Hospitality and Tourism Management – City University College of Ajman

 Oversee the preparation of department academic plans and follow-up on implementation
 Oversee, monitor, and assess the essentials of the teaching and learning processes in the department
 Responsible and accountable for creating and enhancing the academic strategy of the Department in line with College strategic plans and directions
 Develop and sustain appropriate structures for management, consultation, decision-making, and communication with staff and students
 Liable in accomplishing the University’s objectives concerning students in respect of their admission inclusive of instruction, progress, and examination
 Ensure that the department performance is managed appropriately in a way that is consistent with the expectation of the CUCA Academic Standard, and that fair workload allocation process is in place.
 Ensure adherence by all department members with the College’s Financial Regulation and other monetary operating procedures and regulations
 In conjunction with the management, cultivate new programs and enhance old programs in order to draw interest to markets, students, and clients.
 Ensure the highest level of quality, integrity, and ethics in all research undertaken
 Create a dynamic and forward-looking learning/ research environment for both staff and students
 Monitor issues and concerns related to student affairs and direct activities for the enhancement of student learning within the department
 Assist students with research and internships
 Supervise academic advising of students in department programs
 Manage and spearhead administrative tasks within the department
 Propose and implement policies to enhance research activities within their department and to enhance academic development
 In-charge of adjunct faculty for the concerned department including but not limited to assigning courses, overseeing exams, classes, grades, e-course files, office hours, etc.
 Evaluate the performance of faculty and other support staff in the department
 Follow-up on the assessment and quality assurance of academic programs within the department
 Review and advance plans for faculty development and submit them to the Vice Chancellor
 Supervise in the accreditation process and document preparation for the related academic programs.
 Ensure that College’s equipment/facilities under the department’s control are properly maintained and serviced as required
 Ensure all activities are carried out to the highest possible standards and that the required evaluation and monitoring procedures are properly documented to ensure both compliance and improvement; such procedures will include teaching, research, and management of all resources
 Comply with auditing, quality assurance, and risk management procedures both internal and external in safeguarding eminence service to staff and students.
 Participate in various projects that serve the community
