Home Room teacher – Elementary – Wazzan Educational Services

KEY RESPONSIBILTIES:
1. Teaching and Curriculum Related Initiatives
I. Teaches all subjects of the specific grade level curriculum;
II. Liaise, as necessary, with the HRTs, Subject Specialists and Teacher Assistants to discuss and review the planned activities each day as per the curriculum.
III. Participates, as a member of the grade level team of teachers, in devising long-term and short-term plans and to ensure that the plans are agreed by the grade level team.
IV. Organizes the classroom and learning resources and displays behavior to encourage a positive learning environment.
V. Plans, Prepares and Presents lessons that cater for the needs of the whole ability range within the class;
VI. Maintains good student behavior, both in and out of the homeroom, and to promote the values of respect, responsibility and relationships.
VII. Motivates Students with enthusiastic and imaginative presentations.
VIII. Maintains discipline within the classroom.
IX. Involves the Teacher Assistant, in supporting groups or individual students in their learning, but does not allow Teacher Assistant to take sole charge of the class, without the HRT, at any time.
2. Administrative Responsibilities
X. Maintains requirements for the assessment and recording of students’ academic and behavioral development.
XI. Provides feedback to parents on the progress of students during meetings and otherwise as required.
XII. Coordinates activities and resources within a specific area of the curriculum, and supports colleagues in the delivery of other specialist areas.
XIII. Keeps up to date with changes and developments in the structure of the curriculum.
XIV. Organizes and takes part in school events, outings and activities which may take place during working days weekends or after hours.
XV. Maintains relationship with parents and grade coordinators to maximize their involvement in the school and the achievement of academic and social objectives of the school. Cooperates with appropriate personnel in the recommendation, placement, and assignment of students to levels and special programs.
XVI. Coordinates departmental duties including preparation of reports, agendas, minutes and surveys.
XVII. Undertakes additional duties, as circumstances arise, that may be designated by the Vice-Principal and/or the Principal.
XVIII. Attends staff meetings and training workshops as and when required.
XIX. Participates in the school’s program of CPD and Performance Management Programs.
