Reporting to: Retail Director
Being a Regional Head of Buying & Merchandising
Manager at Salam Stores is unlike any other experience, it’s a Salam Experience. Regional Head of Buying & Merchandising Manager oversees
all categories across womenswear, menswear, home and kids, accessories.This person will be responsible for developing and maintaining the overall regional buying strategy across all buying lines, in 4 countries while ensuring that all lines are performing up to the required standard.
Main Responsibilities:
Strategic/Planning
– Strategically planning, directing and coordinating activities, pertaining to buying of all divisions, including Men, Women, Kids, Leather goods, Buying, and Home and Gifts’ Divisions in all Salam locations
– Being responsible for business development with international brands by offering the needed product variety
– Developing and maintaining buying development and strategy in accordance with the reports presented by the Planning and Merchandising Manager and Analysts
and with the directions of the Retail Director
Technical
– Disseminating the buying strategy throughout the buying divisions to achieve a variety of products range and a wide product mix across the buying
divisions, with consideration of the budgets, client needs, and emerging market trends
– Identifying and managing any new buying categories when needed Monitoring the performance of the entire buying division and evaluating its progress
– Selecting merchandise with buyers
– Attending international events to scout for new product lines if needed
– Establishing retail price with buyers
– Reviewing and approving the contracts that governs the company’s relation with suppliers
People management
– Coaching, managing, supporting, and motivating the Buying Managers and their teams to expand
their product range and achieve intended growth and expansion
– Evaluating and appraising the performance of Buying Managers
– Being responsible for staffing subordinate positions of the buying division, in accordance with the framework and requirements of the organization
– Coordinating the time plan and budget across his subordinate Buying Managers
External relations
Maintaining strong relationships with key brands and their suppliers
Interdepartmental
– Coordinating with the Fashion, Photography, and Department Stores’ Managers regarding the product categories to be bought and the general direction of buying
– Cooperating and coordinating occasionally with Mono-Brand Managers for the buying activities regarding their product
