Account director – Alghanim Industries

Position Overview

The Account Director leads a client account, or set of accounts, within the agency, ensuring that they are profitable, and growing. They take responsibility for the delivery of quality creative work that meets the client’s needs and addresses their business problems, and must champion that work. They will do so through the effective management of their own team, and their ability to lead and inspire others inside and outside the agency. They will regularly be involved with pitches for new business, approaching these with both a creative and commercial mindset.

Essential Job Roles:

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Act as the client's liaison with the agency and balance the input of the various agency departments, ensuring it meets the client's objective

• Know all there is to know about the client’s product or service, the market and its consumer

• Understand the client's marketing objectives in terms of sales, market-share, competitor products

• Working with planners to interrogate client briefs, by challenging and asking questions, to develop communications briefs that meet business needs in an effective and accountable way. This is done in collaboration with Media Planners and Strategists from other BBDO agencies to ensure integrated work is delivered for the client

• Be able to work on formulating strategy documents together with the client

• Brief the media department so it can develop the media strategy

• Prepare and sign off on all the creative briefs, which is the foundation of the advertisements the creative team will produce

• Oversee the various production stages every advertisement goes through and ensure a quality control of output

• Assist the client in solving marketing problems

• Ensure the advertising is created on time and on budget

• He or she also has to ensure that:

o The account is running profitably for the agency

o The client is getting the best results from the whole agency team

o There are adequate resources on hand.

• Managing the work, performance and professional development of team members

• Negotiating contracts and fees together with the managing director

• Maintaining a detailed awareness of relevant market trends affecting their accounts, and developments in the wider advertising and communications industry

• May also be involved in new business pitches
