Assistant Manager – Chargeback & Fraud Monitoring – Commercial Bank of Kuwait

  • Responsible for the entire operation of the unit, reporting to the Head of Cards. Directly supervise the Officers, Supervisors and clerks. Manage day-to-day operations in Reconciliations & Chargeback’s Unit.

  • Manage day-to-day operations in Reconciliation & Chargeback Unit involving copy requests, cardholder disputes, interchange rejects, chargeback’s, fraud reporting, compliance / arbitration case filing, temporary credits, chargeback’s related accounting entries, re-presentments, TC-40 & SAFE reporting, updating Operations Risk Database, Fee collection of invalid special interchange debits, liaison with IT / branches / Visa / MasterCard / re-payments service providers on outstanding or invalid items whilst ensuring that these activities are carried out with maximum efficiency, security and control in accordance with established procedures and agreed service standards.

  • To design and review procedures and work-flows and to recommend new procedures to streamline and enhance processes.

  • Supervises the process of both issuing and acquiring disputes to ensure the correct process of charge back is done with the updated rules of both Visa and Master card.

  • Evaluate the fraud cases of the organization from both issuing and acquiring sides, and recommends write-off.

  • Coordinates with the Merchant Acquisition Unit in terms of protecting merchants, and dealing with merchant with fraud cases.

  • Supervises the process of coordination between Card Risk team and legal department for certain cases.

  • To coordinate and supervise the day to day activities and the performance of the Card Risk Team against pre-defined goals and objectives.

  • Exercise judgment in interpreting Visa / MasterCard Operating Regulations in detecting possible fraudulent transactions or while processing chargeback’s / copy requests / re-presentments / arbitration / compliance to resolve customer disputes on any unauthorized or fraudulent transactions and protect the bank's interest by minimizing transactional / fraud losses, and maximizing chargeback recoveries.

  • Recommend temporary credits as an interim measure to resolve customer disputes till it is finally resolved.

  • Constantly monitor the performance of reporting staff and counsel, mentor, motivate, guide and train them to ensure that performance is optimized through a high level of staff morale/initiative/development.

  • Ensure that all outstanding items arising out of the chargeback suspense account reconciliation are rectified and rectification entries are passed as per the established procedures and within the agreed service standards. Ensure that all Visa / MasterCard Int’l fees, charges debite
