Job Summary

The Compensation Specialist is responsible for providing specialized analytical, systems, and project management support to the Reward & Performance team.

This position requires the incumbent to have specialized compensation knowledge in qualitative and quantitative methods and tools for analysis, interpretation, and decision-making purposes. The Specialist works closely with the Compensation Manager to support the development, implementation, and evaluation of compensation policies/programs and pay structures that support the organization’s strategic priorities.

The position requires the incumbent to be able to think in variable situations within broadly defined policies, principles and specific objectives, under readily available direction from the Compensation Manager. The incumbent shall be able to act freely in situations covered by practices and procedures with clear precedents, subject to the Compensation Manager’s review and control

Accountabilities:

1. Participates in developing, implementing, maintaining, and communicating the organization’s compensation programs, policies, and processes
2. Performs job evaluation analyses for single jobs or whole departments using either non-quantitative or quantitative methods to determine the relative worth of a job within the organization; consults with departments and leadership on job evaluation
3. Provides compensation expertise to committees, task forces, and cross-departmental initiatives and projects, as assigned
4. Manages job code master list records to support system integrity and historical accuracy
5. Serves as 2nd level liaison with the Service Center staff to address problems and confirm
solutions
6. Performs the required calculations and reviews for pay-increase and incentive activities (i.e.,
increments, market-based adjustments, etc.)
7. Makes recommendations for pay structure development, including calculating pay ranges,
spreads, compa-ratios, and broadbanding
8. Makes recommendations for pay determination systems to attract, motivate, and retain
employees
9. Maintains pay-related record keeping and retention
10. Performs other duties as required
