Information Analyst – Middle Eastern Affairs – Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH

The “GIZ main office” in Jordan is seeking an “Information analyst – Middle Eastern Affairs” on a full time base employment.
– Provides professional risk information analysis.
– Provides timely and correct reporting.
– Monitors closely political and security trends and collects relevant information.
– Manages the incident database.
– Conducts GIS analysis on the database and develops subsequent products including incident mapping and other forms of thematic analysis of risk.
– Develops and maintains a functional system for risk information gathering and analysis and builds relevant contacts/resources.
– Carries out specific tasks concerning the knowledge management in the Regional Information Section Middle East.
– Takes on certain tasks as delegated by the team leader.
– Assists the AV and/or other experts he is assigned to in their relevant technical tasks
C. Tasks
1. Information Collection and Management
The Information Analyst
– Continuously observes and collects information on social, economic, political and security trends on the regional, national and sub-national levels with focus on risk analysis.
– Assists in establishing and maintaining systematic, cross-referenced knowledge records and a database.
Supervises the filing and archiving of relevant documents.
2. Analysis and Reporting
The Information Analyst
– Analyzes and updates information on social, economic, political and security developments for periodic and thematic reports.
– Receives, organizes, processes and analyses incoming reports.
– Co-authors a variety of risk analysis products and reports (e.g. foresight analysis, risk- based freedom of implementation mapping, context analysis, security briefing and others).
– Provides analytical content for regular security updates and advisories.
– Contributes to developing region wide analysis standards, products and formats.
– Maintains and operates a GIS system (e.g. Google earth, ArcGis) and produces GIS analysis and reporting as required.
– Prepares, organizes and conducts regular and ad-hoc briefings/ presentations as required.
– Routinely reports in writing and orally on relevant findings, developments and incidents.
– Assists in writing reports and translations.
Supports the in-country security risk management structures with security-related information acquisition and analysis if tasked by the AV.
– Assists the Security Risk Managers in the Middle East to verify and provide comment on reported security incidents and maintains regular contact with in- country analysts or Security Risk Management Advisors.
– Prepares inputs to verbal and oral briefings by the Team Leader.
– Provides inputs to ad hoc thematic analysis reports as required.
3. Communication
The Information Analyst
– Facilitates security meetings, briefings, conferences or workshops.
– Supports timely dissemination of information to relevant receivers.
– Represents the RMO at meetings.
– Supports Security Risk Managers and Analysts in the region in drafting analytical reports and mapping products.
– Develops and maintains contact with all important stakeholders, program/project security focal points.
4. Liaising
The Information Analyst
– Liaises internally with relevant GIZ projects and departments.
– Liaises with other in-country analysts in the region in order to assess risk implications on as the result of security incidents and political trends.
– Assist in establishment and maintenance of a network of contacts for information exchange, including UN Organizations, NGOs, GOs, IOs, government, civil society and other stakeholders on security-related issues.
5. Training
The Information Analyst
– Trains the Analysts and Security Risk Managers on region wide analytic products and formats.
– Organizes and coordinates security and risk management trainings.
– Skills up as required by the tasks to be performed – corresponding training according to findings of the line manager.
6. Administration
The Information Analyst
– Ensures that all security administration (e.g. records, files, documentation) is handled in a thorough and timely manner.
– Ensures that all security related data and files are constantly updated.
– Ensures data protection of electronic and hardcopy files.
7. Other duties and additional tasks
The Information Analyst
– Conducts special tasks, researches and surveys on request.
– Provides technical translations (and interpretations when needed).
– Performs others duties and tasks mutually assigned by the line supervisor.
