Main purpose of job
To evaluate jobs from prepared job descriptions so that they can be
allocated to the appropriate grades or pay rates.
Main responsibilities
1. Evaluate jobs from prepared job descriptions and allocate a
points score, using an agreed job evaluation method.
2. Record evaluation results and the reasons for these.
3. Organize and attend job evaluation panels to evaluate groups
of jobs.
4. Review job evaluation results to ensure that these are logical in
relation to the whole organization.
5. Train staff in the job evaluation process.
6. Design and implement job evaluation methods and processes
which provide an objective, accurate and consistent means of
measuring job size.
7. Advise managers and staff of the organization on job evaluation
and equal value issues.
8. Design pay and grading structures arising from the job evaluation
9. Carry out salary surveys to determine external relativities.
10. Design and communicate all necessary job evaluation manuals,
forms, records and other procedures to ensure that the organization
maintains accurate and up-to-date job evaluation data.
11. Keep up to date with developments in the fields of job evaluation,
equal value and related employment law to ensure that
the organization continues to have accurate advice.
12. Where necessary, carry out job analysis to prepare accurate job
