Media Manager / Assistant – منظمة النهضة العربية للديمقراطية والتنمية(أرض)

JOB PURPOSE:

Reinforce ARDD work on media with the aim of influencing decision makers to adopt policies that embrace and reflect justice and the empowerment of vulnerable groups. Media mainstreaming is integral components of ARDD organizational strategy and are therefore paramount to achieving its overall objectives.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

• Expanded media unit to full capacity; Hiring of media officer, assistant and interns; development of roles and tasks for each position;
• Revised and developed all website content;
• Master Database; All contacts – INGOs, NGOs, stakeholders, beneficiaries, donors – compiled to incorporate each unit’s separate databases as well;
• Internal Media and Communications SOPs and templates; Developed and standardized templates – signatures, emails, press releases, PowerPoint presentations, new logo, also SOPs for all website and social media use as well as event coverage;
• Development of monthly activity matrix, media coverage procedures for each unit and project;
• Development of documentation and assessment procedures in soft and hard copy formats;
• Filled the activity matrixes to help the media unit keep track with the activities executed by other units;
• Draft Quarterly ARDD newsletter and annual report;
• Mass Media & Social Media production;
• Printable & Materials production including design by the unit of supervise any outsourcing;
• Fortify the organization’s mission and reinforce the mandate of ARDD media unit and its organizational development strategy at all times;
• Devise and design succinct strategies for the media unit (revising existing media strategy), which strengthens the effectiveness, impact, the outreach and the units’ objectives;
• Prioritize tasks and develop an action plan that reflects the unit objectives and the best means to achieving them within a well-defined timeframe;
• Advice and support ARDD Director with regards media related matters and innovative approaches the organization can adopt;
• Produce content relevant to ARDD work and current situations to be shared on different media outlets;
• Manage all ARDD events including conferences;
• Propose and recommend to ARDD Director and Department Heads pertinent approaches that enhance the organizational development strategy and advance the outreach relative to media, and expand the outreach locally and internationally;
• Manage the media units projects and budgets with a focused and clear direction that corresponds with the organization’s policies, procedures and strategic direction, with meticulous attention and adherence to deadlines and reporting requirements.
• Provide monthly and quarterly reports to ARDD management regarding project activities including financial, which include progress to date, results, challenges and lessons learned relative to ongoing projects;
• Recruit, orient, induct and manage media unit staff and consultants, manage their performance, annual evaluations and their personal development plans (PDP). The Media Head Unit will ensure at all times that hiring of staff and consultants is within the unit’s budgetary parameters, is in line with the organization’s staffing structure and is cost effective;
• Creatively seek funding for ARDD media unit from a diverse pool of donors while actively promoting the organization’s work to donors and stakeholders on a national and regional level in relevant forums;
• Responsible for satisfying donor requirements with regards responding to all inquiries and technical details relative to the sought funding;
• Performs other related duties as assigned by the Line Manager or CEO.

DIMENSIONS:

• Create and maintain open channels of communications with beneficiaries from all projects;
• Work closely with all unit managers and fundraising to insure all donor relations are maintained and to ensure that grant compliance is maintained;
• Partnership with organizations, individual locally and internationally to support the work of all units;
• Assist the organization in drafting polices;
• Assist all project in networking and supporting their work.
QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor degree in Human rights or journalist or any related field, master degree preferable;
• From 5 – 7 years of demonstrated experience in development work;
• A strong, dedicated, mission-driven, creative, worldly executive, with a proven creative leadership record;
• An exceptional record in producing immediate results in large organizational management and development;
• Proven track record in project management, proposal writing and problem solving
• Track-record in strategic and business planning, with a demonstrated ability to lead towards a shared vision;
• Impressive record in fostering partnerships and strengthening donor relations, with measurable results;
• Broad background in fundraising and public relations, and established understanding of program strategy and alignment, to generate revenue aligned with an effective program/business model and financial plan;
• Proven experience in fundraising, networking, coordination and monitoring and evaluation;
• Strong understanding of the Jordanian context, particularly in relation to media, direct policy influences, diversity and inter-group relations;
• Excellent oral and written communication skills in both Arabic and English.
